Prepare a media release
The media release should contain the following:
- An image of the cover or the author or both
- The title, ISBN, ordering info, author’s name, Association or group details, contact details for author (or representative), an interesting angle, a description of the book, any other interesting details.
The angle
What is an amusing/interesting/worthwhile angle to tell the media? What would you like to read about your book in a paper or hear on the radio?

Is this a local story…the local news or community TV or radio or print may be interested. How do you contact these? A very helpful guide is the Margaret Gee Media Guide which is found in most libraries. This provides contact details for media outlets and Associations.

Will you advertise?
Do you have a budget to advertise? If you do, ensure the cover image is clear, your message is precise and ordering or purchasing or promotional activity details are on the ad….maybe you’re holding a book launch in the park?

Lastly, but importantly, be inventive…the media love it. Maybe you can come up with an idea that would promote your book. People have done strange things before.
