David Jones
David Jones is a life long resident of Brisbane with a keen interest in local history, particularly nautical and aviation history in the Brisbane area. Married with two adult children he retired in 2000 after a career in the Queensland Public Service. Retirement has allowed him more time to pursue his longstanding fascination with aeronautical and maritime history – two areas of interest which found a happy combination in Wings on the River. David is a member of the Queensland Maritime Museum and the Queensland Air Museum. His previous books include U.S. Subs Down Under: Brisbane, 1942-1945 which he co-authored with Peter Nunan, and The Whalers of Tangalooma. He has also written several historical papers published in specialist journals.
